Family Tree Discoveries: Obituary for John Shepherd

I received the obituary for John Shepherd in the mail this week. I found it through the Cleveland Public Library's Necrology File. I emailed the library and they sent me a photocopy of the obituary. I was very pleased with how fast I was able to get the obit and how easy it was to find. I wish more libraries or genealogy societies would offer a similar service until all newspapers are available online. Below is the obit for John Shepherd from The Cleveland Herald on 3 Feb 1847.

I am surprised with how much information was provided at the time for the obituary. Obviously this man led quite a long and eventful life.
